Our project for this month is the Van-Horn dining room and Veranda at The Fairmont Algonquin Hotel in Saint-Andrews. These two elegant rooms feature fifteen arches over doors leading in and out of the Veranda and Shaugnessy Room. The most appropriate way to treat these arches was to dress them with a shear sunburst and outline them with swags and jabots. As such, we could maintain the architectural appeal of the arch yet keep the mood formal. Since the walls in both rooms are neutral, the addition of rich colours from the swags and jabots brings life and warmth. Also, since the Veranda has a strong exposure to the sun, some form of heat and glare control was required... without compromising the guests' view of the beautiful grounds. This goal was best served by using of our Shearweave sun shades system, which blocks out over 90% of the sun's glare and heat.
This fall we will feature the Algonquin's Spa in our Project of the Month. This great new facility will also have a somewhat formal feel with complete drapery and valance treatments for the massage and relaxation rooms. .
